Shatavari is a rejuvenating herb known for its positive effects on women's health.
The name translates roughly to the cure for one hundred diseases.
The active compounds it contains acts upon all of the tissues within the body and creates a powerful action known as anabolic action. It is frequently referred to mothers after their delivery because it assists in secretion of milk.
Shatavari can be found in the market in the form of granules. This powder form can be mixed with milk, and you can take it around two times a day for the best results.
It is said to cool the body while nourishing and strengthening the tissue. In addition to its benefits for women, Shatavari helps to strengthen the immune system and support digestion.
Used for a reproductive tonic, Shatavari is relied on heavily for all stages of a woman's reproductive cycle, beginning with the menarche (start of menses), supporting the female system through menses, ovulation and fertility, uterine strength during pregnancy, childbirth and ample lactation (flow and quantity of milk), and hot flashes, irritability, irregular memory and dryness during menopause.
It is also traditionally used to alleviate anxiety and restlessness, due to its calming and slightly sedative effect.
How to use?
To prepare a tea, infuse one teaspoon of Shatavari powder / or Root chips with 1 cup of boiling water. Let steep for 5 to 7 minutes before straining and drinking. Shatavari powder can also be added to smoothies for a hidden immunity boost.
